5 Floors was a studio project at the University of California, Berkeley that takes the form of a proposal for a school in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco. The distinct focus of this project is to not occupy the entirety of the site as to offer some of the site to the general public. This was to support the notion that the school could serve as a community hub as well as its primary program. In some sense, the project is about the forcing together of these two identities and the way in which different building elements can put pressure on or impress upon each other. The building is characterized by the collision of two masses which only allude to a multitude of productive collisions that take place within.
